Graduate School initiates Grand Community Extension Day in Barangay Saliducon

The Graduate School Department of Cor Jesu College, in partnership with the Brother Polycarp Foundation, conducted a community extension program in Barangay Saliducon, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur last March 25, 2023. Headed by their MBA faculty, Dean Cyril Ramos, the MBA students gave financial literacy lectures and workshops to members of the barangay.

Aside from that, the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) students, together with their their Program Coordinator, Dr. Lorena Abangan,  also conducted a storytelling activity to Grade 1 students and bibliography program for the elementary teachers.

The teachers also participated in a training concerning blended learning. This was organized by the Master of Education (MAED) students, led by their Program Coordinator, Dr. Ma. Venice Sumaljag, and Dr. Cesar Tecson as speaker.

Lastly, the Master of Public Administration(MPA) students, headed by their Program Coordinator, Dr. Rogelio Bayod, also conducted a training called “Katarungan Pang Barangay,” and local budgeting for the barangay officials and functionaries of Barangay Saliducon.

Barangay Saliducon was chosen as the adopted community which started last February 2023. The partnership expected to last for two to three years to establish sustainability.

Through this initiative, the Graduate School Department hopes to contribute to the development of the community and create a positive impact on the lives of the people in Barangay Saliducon.

The Graduate School Dean Dr. Alex D. Niez, led the team in providing a holistic and sustainable approach to community development. The Graduate School Department commits itself to fulfilling its responsibility as an academic institution and ensures that their students become responsible members of the community.
