COLLEGE OF ACCOUNTANCY BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The College of Accountancy, Business and Entrepreneurship is the school that offers courses in the field of business and management. A CABE graduate should be able to:

  1. Describe the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling;
  2. Identify and describe the basic concepts that underlie each of the functional areas of business (marketing, finance, human resources management, production and operations management, information technology, and strategic management) and employ these concepts in various business situations;
  3. Select the proper decision making tools to critically, analytically and creatively solve problems and drive results;
  4. Express clearly and communicate effectively with stakeholders both in oral and written forms;
  5. Apply information and communication technology (ICT) skills as required by the business environment;
  6. Work effectively with other stakeholders and manage conflict in the workplace;
  7. Organize and lead groups to plan and implement business related activities;
  8. Demonstrate corporate citizenship and social responsibility; and
  9. Exercise high personal moral and ethical standards.

Program Offerings

The Accountancy program provides general accounting education to students wanting to pursue a professional career in Accountancy in general and in Public Accounting in particular. Further, this is the program that complies with the latest competency framework for professional accountants issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) through their International Education Standards. Thus, this qualifies the graduate of this program to take assessments leading to certifications in Accountancy given by the Professional Regulatory Commission – Board of Accountancy (PRC-BOA) and other global professional Accountancy organizations. A graduate of BS in Accountancy should be able to:

  1. Resolve business issues and problems, with a global and strategic perspective using knowledge and technical proficiency in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, cost accounting and management, accounting and control, taxation, and accounting information systems.
  2. Conduct accountancy research through independent studies of relevant literature and appropriate use of accounting theory and methodologies.
  3. Employ technology as a business tool in capturing financial and non-financial information, generating reports and making decisions.
  4. Apply knowledge and skills to successfully respond to various types of assessments; and (including professional licensure and certifications).
  5. Confidently maintain a commitment to good corporate citizenship, social responsibility and ethical practice in performing functions as an accountant.
  6. Participate in various types of employment, development activities, and public discourses, particularly in response to the needs of the communities one serves.

The Accounting Information System program provides general accounting education to students wanting to pursue a professional career in Accounting Information System. Further, this is the program that complies with the latest competency framework for professional accountants issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) through their International Education Standards. Thus, this qualifies the graduate of this program to take assessments leading to certifications in Accounting Information System given by global professional Accounting Information System organizations. A graduate of BS in Accounting Information System should be able to:

Further, this is the program that complies with the latest competency framework for professional accountants issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) through their International Education Standards. Thus, this qualifies the graduate of this program to take assessments leading to certifications in management accounting given by global professional management accounting organizations. A graduate of BS in Management Accounting should be able to:

1. Resolve business issues and problems, with a global and strategic perspective using knowledge and technical proficiency in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, cost accounting and management, accounting and control, taxation, and accounting information systems.
2. Conduct accountancy research through independent studies of relevant literature and appropriate use of accounting theory and methodologies.
3. Employ technology as a business tool in capturing financial and non-financial information, generating reports and making decisions.
4. Apply knowledge and skills to successfully respond to various types of assessments; and (including professional licensure and certifications).
5. Confidently maintain a commitment to good corporate citizenship, social responsibility and ethical practice in performing functions as an accountant.

The Financial Management program prepares the graduates for various careers in financial management as well as in related fields, including but not limited to, corporate finance, investment management, banking, credit, trust operations, insurance, foreign currency markets, money markets, capital markets, and other financial securities markets. The curriculum provides the graduate with knowledge on financial institutions and technical skills based on established financial theories, methodologies, and various analytical tools. It also promotes an outlook that is based primarily on ethics, market integrity, regulations, good governance and competitive global perspective, necessary for effective financial decision-making.

The Human Resource Development Management program prepares the graduate for a career in the Human Resource Department of any organization, handling the many diverse human capital requirements of the organization, including recruitment, staffing, training and career development.

The Marketing Management program prepares the graduate for careers in marketing, market research, advertising and public relations. The curriculum provides the graduate with both technical skills and competencies required in the field, but also the flexible mindset that is necessary to stay competitive in a constantly changing business environment.

The Hospitality Management program will equip students with competencies that are needed to execute operational tasks and management functions in food production (culinary), accommodation, food and beverage service, tourism planning and product
development, events planning, transportation services, travel and tour operations and other emerging sectors of hospitality and tourism industry. A graduate of BS in Hospitality Management should be able to:

1. Produce food products and services complying with enterprise standards.
2. Apply management skills in F & B service and operations;
3. Perform and provide full guest cycle services for front office;
4. Perform and maintain various housekeeping services for guest and facility operations;
5. Plan and implement a risk management program to provide a safe and secure workplace;
6. Provide food & beverage service and manage the operation seamlessly based on industry standards; and
7. Participate in various types of employment, development activities, and public discourses, particularly in response to the needs of the communities one serves
