Digos City, Davao del Sur, Philippines — Cor Jesu College (CJC) achieved another institutional milestone after successfully making its debut in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, earning an overall global rank of 1501+ among participating higher education institutions worldwide.
The Sustainability Impact Ratings, formerly known as the THE Impact Rankings, is the only global ranking system that assesses universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2026 results, released on June 24, evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories.
In its first participation, Cor Jesu College secured rankings across several SDG categories, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to integrating sustainability principles into its academic programs, research, extension initiatives, and institutional operations.
Among the College’s strongest-performing SDGs was SDG 1 (No Poverty), where CJC ranked within the 401–600 band globally among 931 participating institutions, making it the institution’s highest-rated SDG. This was followed by SDG 13 (Climate Action), where the College placed within the 601–800 band, and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), where it ranked within the 801–1000 band globally.
The College also earned recognition in several other SDGs, including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) with a rank band of 601+, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) with a rank band of 801+, and both SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) with rank bands of 1001+. Meanwhile, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which serves as the mandatory SDG for overall ranking consideration, received a rank band of 1501+. Together with its three highest-performing SDGs—SDG 1, SDG 8, and SDG 3—SDG 17 formed the basis of the institution’s overall ranking.
The institution’s participation in the 2026 Sustainability Impact Ratings was spearheaded by the Institutional Affairs Office under the leadership of Dr. Kirt Anthony R. Diaz, with the support of various academic and administrative units that provided the evidence and documentation required for the international assessment.
According to Dr. Lemuel M. Sayao, Director of the Research and Publication Office and focal person for the institution’s 2026 Sustainability Impact Ratings application, the recognition represents the formal acknowledgment of Cor Jesu College’s long-standing commitment to improving the quality of life of the communities it serves.
“Cor Jesu College has been contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for many years, but this is the first time that we formally participated in a global sustainability ranking. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of every office, department, and unit of the institution in fulfilling our vision and mission while also contributing to what the United Nations aims to achieve through the SDGs,” Dr. Sayao said.
The College’s inclusion in the Sustainability Impact Ratings serves as an international affirmation of its mission-driven programs and community engagement efforts that create meaningful social impact beyond the classroom. It also reflects the collective commitment of administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partner communities in advancing the institution’s vision of transformative and socially responsive education.
As CJC continues to strengthen its culture of sustainability, the institution remains committed to developing innovative programs, expanding community partnerships, and generating positive contributions toward the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the local, national, and global levels.
