China-ASEAN Seminar Highlights AI and Digital Economy Opportunities

Cor Jesu College faculty and administrators Dr. Cesar Tecson and Engr. Jamie Rosal successfully participated in the Seminar on the China-ASEAN Young Leaders’ Growth Program: “AI-Powered Future” Digital Economy, organized by the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat from September 8–21, 2026 in various cities across the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hunan Province, China.

The seminar brought together participants from various ASEAN Member States, including Timor-Leste, and the ASEAN Secretariat, providing a platform for regional learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. The program focused on strengthening understanding of China-ASEAN cooperation in the digital economy and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in various sectors.

Throughout the program, participants took part in thematic lectures, field studies, and exposure activities focused on digital economy and artificial intelligence initiatives. They also attended the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and engaged with Chinese high-tech enterprises through field visits and survey tours.

Key discussions explored the development of China’s AI industry, the digital economy, and pathways for AI-enabled development across different industries. These activities provided participants with valuable perspectives on the rapid developments in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The knowledge and insights gained from the seminar can contribute to ongoing initiatives at Cor Jesu College, particularly in AI integration, digital transformation, faculty development, curriculum enhancement, research and innovation, and potential international partnerships. These learnings may further support the institution’s efforts to prepare students and the wider community for an increasingly digital and AI-driven world.

The CJC community extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese Consulate General in Davao City for providing this meaningful learning opportunity and supporting the institution’s continuing efforts toward global engagement and internationalization.
