Bayod presents paper at Nagoya University Conference

Dr. Rogelio Bayod was chosen as one of the presenters during in the International Conference-Workshop held at  Nagoya University, Japan last September 29, 2018, with the  theme “Philippine Politics  and  Culture  from  Mindanao Perspectives.”

The conference was sponsored by the Graduate School of International Development of Nagoya University, Japan.

Dr. Bayod presented his paper entitled “Listen to the Cry from Within:  A Foucauldian Analysis of Subjugation and Resistance of the Indigenous  Peoples.” 

The other presenter from the Philippines was Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University,  who presented his paper entitled Situating the Mindanao Agenda in the Radical Politics of President Duterte.”  

Other presenters were from Nagoya University.  They were Martin Kurismaa with his paper entitled “The state of capital in Muslim Mindanao: A Neo-Medieval Perspective,” Wataru Kusaka on “Everyday Interfaith Negotiation between Muslims and Christians in Mindanao: Intermarriage and Balik-Islam,” and Ryn Nhick Yambao on “A Change or a Continuity in the Economic Institutions? The Case- of the Philippines’ IT-BPO industry.”

Each presenter was given one hour which included an open forum where the participants gave their criticisms, comments, and suggestions. After the conference, Dr. Bayod had some discussions with Dr. Kusaka and Dr. Maboloc of the possibility of future collaboration.

Dr. Bayod, in consultation with the Research and Publication Office of Cor Jesu College is looking at the possibility of having the second part of this conference to be held in Cor Jesu College anytime this year or next year, depending on the availability of Dr. Wataru Kusak of Nagoya University, Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc of Ateneo de Davao University and the rest of the possible international scholars.

Author
