This is a program that includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective algorithms for solving computing problems.

A Computer Science graduate prepares to become an IT professional and researcher, proficient in designing and developing computing solutions, specifically in terms of:

• Application of fundamental computer concepts as problem solving skills;
• Design and implementation of computer-based solutions;
• Recognition and application of technical standards and interoperability;

This program includes the study of the utilization of both hardware and software technologies involving planning, installing, customizing, operating, managing and administering, and maintaining information technology infrastructure that provides computing solutions to address the needs of an organization.

The graduate of the Information Technology Program can become an IT professional, well versed in application, installation, operation, development, maintenance and administration, hardware installation operation and maintenance, specifically in terms of:

• A system analysis and design;
• Operation of databases, networks and multimedia system;
• Software integration, testing and documentation; and

The ultimate objective of the Library and Information Science Program (BLIS) is to prepare students to their unique role in gathering, organizing and coordinating access to the best information sources for the knowledge-based organization they belong, as well as implementing standards for the ethical and appropriate use of information. A graduate of Library and Information Science program has the ability to:

• Develop knowledge, skills and proficiency for effective and efficient services in the library with emphasis in the development and competencies in the practice of the profession;
• Be proficient in the field of management, organization of information sources, information storage and retrieval, indexing and abstracting, building library collection and information sources and services applicable to various types of libraries and information centers;
• Imbibe in oneself the importance of the profession in our society, particularly to the academic, business, research and other knowledge-based organization engaged in the promotion, preservation and use of information sources;
• Develop professional competencies and practice the philosophy of librarianship and its significance for serving school, academic, public, special libraries and information centers;
• Develop their attitudes, skills, and values to enhance their personal competencies needed in the practice of the profession in a multicultural environment;
• Develop the proper character or traits needed to become a globally competitive efficient and effective librarian;
