22nd Battle of Academic Wizards Celebrates Excellence and Collaboration in Davao del Sur and Occidental

With hearts full of gratitude, Cor Jesu College, Inc. extends its profound appreciation to all individuals and groups who contributed to the success of the 22nd Davao del Sur and Occidental High Schools – Battle of Academic Wizards, held on March 27, 2026 at Gaisano Mall of Digos.

Highlighting the spirit of academic excellence, participating schools showcased remarkable talent and intellect throughout the competition. Emerging as the Grand Champion was Cor Jesu College, Inc., followed by Nazareth High School of Bansalan as 1st Runner-Up, Matanao National High School as 2nd Runner-Up, Holy Cross Academy, Inc. as 3rd Runner-Up, and Digos City National High School as 4th Runner-Up. Their outstanding performances truly reflected the competitive yet inspiring nature of the event.

Leading the list of commendation are the Cor Jesu College administrators, under the dynamic leadership of Bro. Ellakim P. Sosmeña, SC, PhD, whose remarkable generosity and unwavering support played a vital role from the elimination rounds up to the grand championship. Their guidance and commitment were instrumental in making the academic competition a resounding success.

Equally recognized is the distinguished Academic Board of Consultants, whose expertise ensured the quality and integrity of the competition. These include Dr. Maria Elena C. Morales, LPT (Spelling), Rosa Esperanza V. Tabora, LPT, MAEd (Vocabulary), Dr. Cristian T. Camañan, LPT (Mathematics), Dr. Lemuel M. Sayao, LPT (Science), Antonio M. Melgar, Jr., MATRE (Religious Education), and Dr. Erikka June D. Forosuelo (General Information). Their meticulous review and dedication greatly enriched the academic rigor of the event. The institution also extends its appreciation to the academic watchers, Dr. Anna Liza C. Cerbo, LPT and Dr. Carlos E. Carado, for their diligence and commitment.

Bringing life and energy to the event were the Masters of Ceremonies, Cyril Marie S. Ramos, CPA, MBA, MPA, and Dr. Harry Dave B. Villasor, whose eloquence and enthusiasm added vibrancy to the celebration of young brilliant minds. Special thanks are also given to Dr. Kirt Anthony R. Diaz, Vice President for Academic Affairs, for delivering an inspiring opening message, and to Mabelle M. Senarillos, MBA, for her meaningful and motivating closing remarks.

Their collective efforts have truly made the 22nd Battle of Academic Wizards a memorable and meaningful celebration of academic excellence.
