Empowering Student Leaders: Camp Alano Hosts Inspiring Leadership Conference

On October 10, 2023, Camp Alano in Toril, Davao City, witnessed an empowering and enlightening Student Leadership Conference. Organized by the College Student Government, this event ran from September 30 to October 2, 2023, under the theme ‘UNAFRAID: Crossing Through the Fear Street of Leadership.’ The primary objective was to inspire and equip young leaders with the knowledge and skills essential for making a positive impact on their clubs, organizations, and the Cor Jesu College community. This three-day conference successfully brought together student leaders from diverse organizations and colleges, fostering collaboration, networking, and the exchange of innovative ideas.

The event boasted an impressive lineup of guest speakers who shared their insights on the topics of fortitude, faith, and fidelity. Mr. Jun Rey D. Dequiña, a former CSG President and SSC Moderator, initiated the conference with a powerful keynote address on ‘Fortitude over Flaw.’ Drawing from his personal experiences, Mr. Dequiña motivated attendees to acknowledge that imperfections serve as stepping stones toward personal growth and leadership excellence. His words set the tone for an event focused on overcoming self-doubt. On the second day, Bro. Car Marx Conde, a respected spiritual leader, took the stage to share his wisdom on ‘Faith over Fear.’ Bro. Conde urged attendees to cultivate unwavering faith in their abilities and visions, encouraging them to rise above their fears and doubts to become leaders who inspire change and progress. The final day of the conference featured Miss Jeopril Jane R. Pableo, who addressed the topic ‘Fealty over Falsity.’ Miss Pableo shared stories of her experiences in promoting allegiance, truthfulness, and loyalty. She stressed the significance of staying true to one’s values and maintaining integrity in leadership roles, even in the face of dishonesty and deception.

The conference also provided a platform for students to showcase their leadership initiatives and projects through interactive workshops, group discussions, and team-building activities. Every participant had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, enhance their communication abilities, and build strong relationships with their fellow student leaders.

The Student Leadership Conference at Camp Alano was a resounding success, leaving participants motivated, enlightened, and ready to take on leadership roles with fortitude, faith, and fidelity. The College Student Government expressed its gratitude to all participants, guest speakers, and sponsors for making the event a memorable and impactful experience for all, ensuring a brighter future for Cor Jesu College and beyond.
