CJC BED aims for PAASCU Level III Re-accreditation

Affirming excellence, the Basic Education Department (BED) of Cor Jesu College is geared up for the upcoming Level III re-accreditation to be given by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) in February next year.

Level III is the highest level basic education units can attain before reaching autonomous status. According to Miriam Vivienleigh S. Mori, Senior High School Assistant Principal, being qualified in this level indicates that the school is in the criterion of excellence.

“Being accredited in a certain accreditation association means that the school is standard and this will be the proof that we are giving a quality education to our students,” Mori said.

Mr. Jun Rey Dequiña, the school principal, confirmed that only junior high and elementary will be covered in the Level III re-accreditation since Senior High School (SHS) needs a separate visitation for level I accreditation.

However, Dequiña confidently stated that the senior high school has surpassed the needed requirements in the Level I accreditation.

“In terms of preparation, we are above the minimum requirements and minimum expectations. The number one reason is the faculty since most of them are having their master’s degree. In terms of facilities, the school is way above the normal school would have,” said Dequiña.

The school intends to pass the level three re-accreditation so it can actively participate in transnational form of education allowing the school to attract students from abroad which may result to more research collaborations and joint publications.

As of now, the school is preparing for the requirements and documents needed for the accreditation.
