Graduate School conducts research training for Senior High School teachers

Senior high school teachers teaching research from public and private high schools in the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental participated in the research training sponsored by the Graduate School Department of Cor Jesu College held last February 3, 2017 at Cor Jesu College, Digos City, Philippines.

The training, entitled “Strategies in Teaching Qualitative Research:  Seminar-Workshop for Senior High School Teachers”,  was a response to the clamor of those teaching Practical Research 1, which is qualitative research, for a seminar to help them learn how to teach the subject.

Graduate school professors in the persons of Ida G. Tudy, PHD, Randy A. Tudy, PHD, Rogelio P. Bayod, PHD, Alex D. Niez, PHD, EDD, and  Kirt Anthony R. Diaz, PHD were the facilitators of the said seminar which was attended by 37 participants from 15 schools.

The seminar was divided into three parts:  1.) review on the concepts and methodology of qualitative research; 2.) teaching strategies in teaching qualitative research in senior high school; and 3.) a workshop wherein the participants were asked to prepare an initial research proposal.

“We are very fortunate to be given this opportunity by Cor Jesu College to learn about qualitative research and how to teach it”,  Dr. Raquel L. Cedeño, in-charge of the Senior High School Department of the Digos City National High School, said after the seminar.

The said seminar is part of the series of seminars lined up by the Graduate School.  The next seminars would be on action research and teaching strategies in teaching quantitative research sometime in the summer of 2017.
